Ciliege, verdura e infradito

Un bel giorno d’estate/One nice summer day

Un bel giorno d’estate mi sono trovata con 5 chili di ciliege mature. Abbiamo mangiato un po’, dopo di che con le rimanenti ho voluto fare una marmellata. Nella credenza ho trovato ancora una busta di Frutapec che era giusta per la quantita’ di frutta rimasta.

One nice summer day I have received 5 kilos of very ripe cherries. We ate some, and with the rest I decided to make a preserve. In the cupboard I have found a bag of Frutapec (pectine), just enough for the remainant quantity of fruit.

Un po di frutta, pocco pocco zucchero e la bustina di Frutapec, 5/10 minuti di bollitura, ed ecco 2 barattoli di marmellata pronta. Colazioni assicurate. E per sodisfare anche l’occhio (e non solo le papille gustative), ho usato queste etichette che ho trovato in un libro pieno di etichette “vintage”.

A little bit of fruit, very little sugar and the Frutapec, 5/10 minutes of simmer and here I had 2 pots of cherry preserve. Breakfast assured. And in order to have an aestetic side, I have used these lables that I have found in a book with “vintage” labels.

   

E mentre la marmellata si raffredava nei barattoli, ho avuto tempo per abelire un paio di infradito che ho preso da Muji. Sapevate che Muji e’ partito come un marchio senza “marchio” e che per quello ha fatto successo? D&G versus Muji, oppure il barocco contro la semplicita’ giaponese. Ho comprato da H&M un cartoncino con 2 clip a fiore che si possono usare sia come spillo, che fermacapelli, etc. Con un po di colla a caldo le ho incollate sul infradito. Mi ricorda un po’ le cuffie anni ’60 con fiorellini di plastica.

And while the pots of preserve were cooling down, I had time to embelish a pair of flip-flops from Muji. Did you know that Muji started as a brand without a logo and that thanks to that it become famous? D&G versus Muji, or barocco versus Japaneese simplicity. I have also bought from H&M two flower clips to be used as a broche or hair clips. With some hot glue I stuck them on the flip-flops. Now they remind me of the swimming caps of the ’60s with plastic flowers.

E mentre la colla si rafredava, ho avuto tempo a raccogliere la verdura che coltiviamo nelle giardiniere (che nella casa vecchia le usevamo sul balcone per i gerani).

And while the glue was cooling down, I had time to harvest the vegetables we grow in pots.  Before we used these pots in the old house to grow geraniums.

   

E proprio oggi mi e’ arrivata una mail da Martha Stewart con una variante di decorazione per infradito. Io la farei con la rafia piutosto che con il filo grosso, cosi’ da un po piu’ l’idea d’estate e legerezza.

And exactly today I have received an e-mail from Martha Stewart with an embelishment variant for flip-flops. I would substitute the thread they used with rafia, just to give a summer vibe.
